Lincoln City Match Preview: Everything you need to know about the Imps

Lincoln City FC Away

Lincoln City sit below us in twelfth place and have yet to find a win this season in the league. This Sunday will be an opportunity for the Imps to fight to try and get their first points on the board in an attempt to scramble out of the relegation battle.

A new season, a new start and a new set of faces...

Lincoln City’s 24/25 season started with big changes on and off the pitch, with a new set of faces joining the squad. After finishing eighth in the league last season, the club announced the departure of Head Coach Lee Mitchell, Assistant Head Coach Steven Hardie and Goalkeeping Coach Alan Murray.

After having previous coaching experience as first-team head coach at Sheffield FC, Charlotte Dinsdale took over the same role at Lincoln City, and a whole new change of backroom staff followed, with a further first-team coach expected to join later. Dinsdale also has experience playing as a defender for Doncaster Rovers Belles.

With the announcement of Dinsdale taking over as head coach also came the announcement of the restructuring of Lincoln City’s female pathway. For the first time, the Women’s First Team have been fully integrated into the club’s Academy to help aid the progression through the club’s pathway.

This restructuring enables the first team access to the gym and training facilities at the Academy’s base at Riseholme College, as well as access to the Academy’s coaching support structure.

Their season so far...

Although now one of the youngest sides in our division, if not the youngest, with this new set of players this season, Dinsdale did bring in a handful of experienced players to bolster her ‘new-look’ team, including Becky Kendell, who now captains the red side.

Despite having faced defeat in the league and the FA WNL Plate competition, they did manage to win 3-2 over Leicester City Ladies in the FA Cup before being knocked out by Rugby Borough this month.

The Imps usually play in Gainsborough Trinity FC’s KAL Group Stadium but will play in Lincoln City’s club stadium, the LNER Stadium, for the first time this season in a crucial fixture for both sides this weekend.
