Introducing WCWFC RISE: Girls Football Development Hub

Worcester City Women FC is excited to launch WCWFC RISE: Girls Football Development Hub, a new initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of talented female footballers in Worcestershire. The RISE Hub offers a unique opportunity for U14 (years 8 and 9) and U16 (years 10 and 11) players to supplement their grassroots club experience with an additional, high-quality training programme.

This 6-week programme provides both on-pitch and off-pitch learnings and opportunities. The on-pitch football development features a tailored coaching programme by WCWFC’s experienced, qualified coaches, alongside current players and performance staff, ensuring they receive expert guidance both in football skills and personal development.

To add to this, girls will also receive access to workshops across various specialisms designed to enhance performance and opportunities off the pitch. Topics include nutrition, strength and conditioning, social media management, and leadership, ensuring that players grow into well-rounded, empowered young people. These topics will be covered throughout the programme from weeks 1 to 5, ending on an exciting games festival on week 6.

At the heart of the RISE Hub are four key values for this youth development programme:

- Resilience: Building mental and physical toughness both on and off the pitch.

- Integrity: Instilling fairness, respect, and teamwork in all aspects of the game.

- Strength: Enhancing physical fitness and mental resilience through targeted training.

- Empowerment: Fostering confidence, leadership, and self-expression through media and personal development.

Last month, WCWFC hosted an ‘Girls Football Engagement Event’ to engage local Worcestershire players and clubs to gather insights into the dropout rate of girls leaving football from the ages of 15 to 17. Through WCWFC RISE, the club is committed to empowering young female footballers to reach their full potential, both as athletes and individuals, and provide them with more opportunities to engage with football.

As part of this commitment, we will be inviting local clubs to experience a session during this 6-week programme.
