England, United Kingdom, October 2024: Worcester City Women FC proudly hosted a successful charity football tournament on Friday 25th October 2024 in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, raising funds for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven.

Held at Perdiswell Leisure Centre, the event brought together local businesses and the community for an evening of football and fundraising with a total of £265 raised for Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven thanks to 52 participants.

The 5-a-side round robin tournament saw 8 teams sign up, including representatives from Open Gi, GLP Training, Proxim Property Management, David Lloyd, Southco Manufacturing, HCR Law, Kick & Mix team, and a team of Worcester City Women FC staff. All teams competed across 10-minute matches, with a requirement for each team to field at least two women. With high energy, social and fun on the pitch, the tournament was a great example of bringing the community together though football.

The donations will go to the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, which supports local breast cancer patients and their families. The funds raised will help the charity continue its vital work in offering care, guidance, and support to those affected by breast cancer in the Worcestershire area.

Nicole Allison, Owner of Worcester City Women FC said: “It was fantastic to see community come together for our first tournament of this kind. We’re pleased to have raised money for such an important organisation during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and look forward to more tournaments in the future.”

Caroline Leah of Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven added: "We are grateful for the support from Worcester City Women FC and the participating businesses. The funds raised will support us in our ongoing care for those facing the challenges of breast cancer."

The tournament wraps up a month of fundraising during Breast Cancer Awareness Month with various activations from the club including a special pink match at Sixways Stadium and bespoke pink club badges raising money for Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven with a grand total of £661 raised throughout the month.
