Match Preview: Everything You Need to Know About Peterborough United

This Sunday, we will travel to Abbey Lawn to face Peterborough United for the third time this season. Last time around, despite a strong second half in the FA WNL League Cup, Posh beat City 3-0, ending our first League Cup journey in Tier 4.

In the reverse fixture of this weekend, which opened up our season in the FA WNL Division One Midlands for the first time, we lost 4-1 at home with goal scorer, Tara Kirk scoring the league’s first goal of the season.

After that Peterborough looked in fine form, with their sights set on promotion after finishing third last season with six points between them and Tier 3. However, they have had a slight dip in results where the league is concerned, recently losing 2-1 against title contenders, Leafield Athletic and 2-0 to now top of the league Northampton Town.

They still sit third, with two points separating them from Northampton Town and Leafield Athletic with Northampton leading on goal difference. However, Loughborough, whom Posh drew with earlier this season, sit three points below them with three games in hand.

Loughborough’s captain Kayleigh Hines made the exciting move to rivals at Peterborough last month, but her new team, after suffering their first league defeat, has yet to take victory since. Including in their Adobe Women's FA Cup fixture where they suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Tier 3 side Rugby Borough, losing 7-1.

Manager Jake Poole is having a promising first season so far with the club after taking over in May. But will ensure his team is set to regain the momentum they had previously and overcome this setback in recent results before the league pauses until the new year.
