Stamford AFC Match Preview: Everything you need to know about the Daniels

This Sunday, we travel to Zeeco Stadium for the Adobe Women’s FA Cup First Round Proper against Tier 5 Stamford AFC Women. Formed in 2022, Stamford have been on an upward trajectory, earning back-to-back promotions. As we travel to Lincolnshire this weekend, here is everything you need to know about the Daniels as they make club history in the FA Cup.

After gaining their second promotion in a row from the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Division One South to the Premier Division, they now compete in the same league as Anstey Nomads and Rotherham United, both of which we met last season in the FA Cup.

In the league at the moment...

The Daniels have only suffered one defeat in their first game of the season and have since drawn 2-2 with both Anstey Nomads and Rotherham United. Last season, before beating Anstey Nomads in the Third Round Qualifier, we played Rotherham United at the same stage in the competition as we now face Stamford.

On current standings, Stamford AFC are fourth in the league with only one point in goal difference separating them from Mansfield Town in third. The EMRWFL Premier Division is looking tight at the top, as although Stamford is fourth, they have only three points keeping them away from the top of the table.

Back-to-back success...

In their first season of conception, they won the Lincolnshire Co-op Women & Girls County League title, the Lincolnshire Women’s League Cup, and reached the semi-final of the Lincolnshire County Cup before becoming EMWRFL Division One South champions the following season.

So far in their FA Cup campaign...

After entering into the competition in the Second Round Qualifying against Arnold Eagles, the Daniels won 7-0, with Emma Pollard walking away with five more goals to her name. Pollard added to her tally further with a brace against Long Eaton United to help her side gain a 4-0 victory in the Third Round Qualifying.

The striker is definitely one to look out for on the pitch, as in the five league games she’s played, she’s scored eight goals and is looking to build up her momentum across all competitions.
